Which brings us to RPG Cartographer for the iPad.

So, like my peppers, my campaign has a tasty and satisfying home grown feel. This is different from recent campaigns where I used pretty much 100% published materials. Everything else, though, I am either designing myself, or the group designs collaboratively. They give us the sandbox borders in which to play. The rules (Pathfinder), the world (Golarion) and the city (Riddleport) are all based on Paizo products. A minor theme in my Riddleport campaign is handling most of the creation ourselves, as a group. They came from the first garden I’ve had in about a decade, and the first garden veggies we’ve grown since moving to Edmonton. I took the picture to the right last night just before we ate them. as of now, CC3 is mainly for use with older addons and symbol sets that haven't yet been made compatible with CC3+, and at present, I believe only symbol sets and the various annuals from before CC3+'s release have yet to be updated for CC3+.Like growing your own food, creating your own maps is rewarding Cosmographer is more for sci-fi stuff like starship deckplans, and the rest is mostly at your discretion (you can completely ignore Character Artist, it deals with characters).ġ Any new purchases of CC3 will include CC3+ for free. City Designer includes tools that help quickly populate a town map with buildings, while Dungeon Designer has some tools for indoor maps. With regards to the Addons (City Designer, Dungeon Designer, etc.), those are useful for certain types of maps. If you have absolutely zero artistic ability (which I personally doubt), CC3+ won't help you. You should at least be able to draw out a rough outline of the map for reference purposes (so that you know the general shape of the landmasses or where, generally, things should be in relation to each other and the map edges). Joe Sweeney has actually started redoing his tutorials for CC3 to use CC3+, although the bulk of the techniques transfer over from CC3 to CC3+ with no significant changes.Īs to whether or not it'll help you in particular, that depends on how much time you're willing to put into the maps.
CAMPAIGN CARTOGRAPHER EFFECTS SOFTWARE
There is a learning curve to it, as with any CAD software (yes, CC3+ 1 should be treated as a CAD software as opposed to a paint-like program, such as Paint.NET, Gimp, etc.), so you will need to get a bit accustomed to using it.
